Giulia Gentle Neonatal Ventilation
The goal of the latest research in the field of neonatal intensive
care is the use of nasal ventilation in order to minimize
or avoid the practice of endotracheal intubation.
The challenge of Ginevri’s team was to enhance the nCPAP
ventilatory support by combining it with ventilator breaths
synchronized with the infant’s respiratory cycle. Giulia’s
advanced technology and its unique flow transducer allow it
to treat babies with nCPAP, nSIPPV and nSIMV, thus improving
the pulmonary mechanics.
The system requires a minimum inspiratory effort to be activated.
This activation follows the rapid increase of flow at the
very beginning of the inspiration. The two synchronized modes
nSIPPV and nSIMV perform a smooth transition from ventilator
support to autonomous breathing. Furthermore, nCPAP can be
delivered by Giulia in order to facilitate gradual weaning.
Giulia encloses an expiration valve, electronically controlled,
that regulates the pressure levels inside the patient circuit
during inspiration and expiration even in an open system.
The necessary parameters can be adjusted on its control panel
in an intuitive and error-free way: FLOW, PIP, PEEP/CPAP,
FiO2, Inspiration and Expiration times, Trigger Level.
A complete alarm range is active to ensure the maximum safety
for the baby.
Gas management is ensured by an electronic Air/O2 blender
that allows the required flow to be set with the chosen oxygen
concentration.
The high resolution 10,4’’ TFT colour screen optimises
viewing of Paw and FLOW waveforms as well as displaying of
breathing parameters.
The special nasal cannula, made of soft silicone, is available
in Small and Large sizes and it fits baby nostrils in the
most natural way.
